The crime-thriller, which will debut exclusively on Netflix before the end of the year, follows a group of students who conspire to kidnap a classmate for ransom money.
Red, whose acclaimed film “Birdshot” was also the first Philippine film to stream on Netflix, said it “has always been my dream as a filmmaker to bring Filipino cinema to a global audience.”
“I am so glad and honored for ‘Dead Kids’ to be a Netflix Film, which is a testament to the world-class talent here in the Philippines… I hope people around the world will appreciate ‘Dead Kids,’ and I hope this also helps open doors for more Filipino filmmakers,” he said.
The Globe Studios-produced “Dead Kids” is only one of many film projects Red has been juggling in the past year. Notably, Star Cinema’s “Eerie” was released in early 2019 to critical acclaim.
Red also recently wrapped production on another Star Cinema movie, “Block Z,” which is also poised to make history as the first large-scale zombie apocalypse movie from the Philippines.
