American video streaming service Netflix on Thursday rolled out its mobile-only subscription plan in the Philippines as it aims to capture the low-income segment of its local market.
“We are launching a new plan for the Philippines… We are super excited to announce that it will be offered for P149 only,” Netflix director for Product Innovation Patrick Flemming told reporters during a video teleconference from Los Angeles, California on Wednesday.
At P149 per month, Flemming said Netflix subscribers will be able to “enjoy all the films and shows on uninterrupted and without ads on one smartphone or tablet at a time.”
The mobile plan is in addition to Netflix’s existing plan offerings — basic at P369 per month, standard at P459 a month, and premium at P549 per month.
The mobile-only plan will be also simultaneously launched in Thailand. The product has been offered in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
